New Skoda Kodiaq - What Car 2017 - Large SUV Awards winner 2017

The Skoda Kodiaq is Skoda’s first and all new large SUV which was launched late 2016. Vehicle Lease Management expects this vehicle to rival the likes of the Nissan X-Trail, Kia Sorento & Hyundai Santa Fe. We also expect the Kodiaq will build on Skoda excellent reputation for good value.

The Kodiaq comes with 5 engines and 4 trim levels, The trim levels are offered in S, SE, SEL & Edition. There are 2 x 2.0 litre diesel engines. The entry level version produces 150 bhp and 251lb of torque and the more powerful until makes 190 bhp and 295lb of torque. The 150 bhp version will average around 56.5 mpg and will emit 131g/km of Co2 while the more powerful 190 bhp offers 0-62 in 8.6 sec with a top speed of 130 mph. Petrol options 2 x 1.4 litre engines and 1 x 2.0 litre engine. The entry level 1.4 litre engine has 125 bhp and 148lb of torque and averages 47.0 mpg and emits 140g/km of Co2. The other 1.4 litre engine produces 148 bhp and 184lb of torque with the 2.0 litre engine making 180 bhp with 236lb of torque.

Customers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox with 6 or 7 speeds. These options are dictated primarily by the choice of front wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

The Kodiaq is 4697mm long, 1882mm wide and 1676mm tall when fitted with roof rails and means it is only 40mm longer than a Skoda Octavia despite having the option of seven seats. Skoda says buyers will choose the Kodiaq over its rivals because it has more technology, better interior space and more value for money. Highlights include a seat down boot capacity of up to 2065 litres (720 litres with the seats up). The Kodiak’s rear seats which split 60/40 move lengthways by 18 cm and have individually adjustable backrests as standard. Buyers can also choose a folding front passenger seat that enables the Kodiaq to carry items up to 2.8 metres long, An electrically operated tailgate, which can be operated by waving a foot under the rear of the car is an optional extra feature.

Driver assistance systems will be offered as optional extras and as part of a bundled safety pack. Features include “Area view” which displays a bird’s eye view of the car while maneuvering, “Tow assist” which will steer the vehicle and trailer during low speed reversing and “maneuvering assist” which automatically brakes the car if an obstacle is detected while reversing. Other advanced features will include “Emergency Assist” which automatically brings the car to a halt safely if it detects the driver is no longer able to drive and a system that automatically drives the car in slow moving traffic. City Emergency Brake which stops the car if a potential impact is detected at up to 21mph this will be a standard feature on the Kodiaq.

The Kodiaq gets a 6.5in touchscreen as standard. Bluetooth and smartlink which supports Apple Car Play, Android Auto and mirrorlink are available as options. Customers can also upgrade to an 8.0in touchscreen, which can be integrated with sat-nav functionality, off road cameras and parking camera aids. A 64 gb flash memory and DVD drive are also available, as well as a WLAN wi-fi hotspot, integrated tablet holders in the rear of the front seats and a wireless smartphone charging pad. The Kodiaq can also be constantly online, which means the screens can show live traffic information, Google Earth and street view mapping, plus live fuel pricing, parking information and news and weather updates.
