Vehicle Lease Management welcomes the much anticipated Volkswagen Tiguan. The mid-sized SUV market is now one of the most competitive sized markets within the new car sales trade and with the Nissan Qashqai topping the list for the last few years, can the new Volkswagen Tiguan give it a run for its money?
The new VW Tiguan is longer overall and even 77mm wider, resulting in a more spacious cabin, This has been achieved with a reduction in weight, that, along with more efficient engines and better aerodynamics, make it cleaner and up to 24% more economical than the outgoing model.
All variants of the new Tiguan will get lane assist, front collision warning and autonomous city braking that detects imminent impacts with cars and pedestrians, There’s also a post collision braking system, seven airbags and an active bonnet that softens the impact.
A new infotainment system includes Apple car play and mirror link to connect your phone to the standard 5.0 inch touchscreen, There will also be an upgraded media package available which will offer an 8.0 inch screen with other online features such as real time traffic data.
Buyers can choose from 5 trim levels which will be S, SE, SE Navigation, SEL & R-Line. The entry level S model comes with 17” alloy wheels, Touch screen infotainment system, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity & Air conditioning. Luxuries on the SE Navigation trim, include satellite Navigation, three-zone climate control , front and rear parking sensors, 19” alloy wheels and a 12.3in digital instrument cluster, Vehicle Lease Management expects this model to be the biggest seller.
Volkswagen will introduce the Tiguan with a range of 1.4 litre and 2.0 litre petrol engines & 2.0 litre diesel engines which will be available in both manual or automatic gearboxes with options of 2WD & 4WD. Vehicle Lease Management expect the 2.0 litre diesel with 148 bhp to be the pick of all the engines due to its 125g k/m Co2 & expected 60.1 mpg , with a top speed of 127 mph.
Most of the added length of the new Volkswagen Tiguan is evident in the cabin, where the rear seat passengers will get an extra 3cm of extra legroom. There’s an extra 145 litres of boot space too compared to the old Tiguan, which means the new model can now hold an impressive 615 litres with its rear seats in place. Use the toggles in the boot to drop the rear bench and there’s a massive 1655 litres to offer which is more than its closest rivals.
If you’re looking at a premium mid-sized SUV, then the new Volkswagen Tiguan is well worth considering due to its improved looks both inside and out and it also offers more space as well as offering more economical engines. So this will appeal to both company car drivers and private individuals.
